April update…

It’s been a while since Easter. The snow finally melted away and we see the sun a bit more often… Time for another update of our blog.

What has happened since Easter except for the snow and the sun? Well, we got a bit more organized, both for the wedding and in our flat. We planned a bit more for the food for the wedding (with help of Kikki, a friend of Ingegerd’s). Another important detail is Karin’s wedding dress, which is now all sewed up and fitting (it just looks awesome – come to the wedding and see). We ordered a hired frock coat for Joseph as well as the back up music. We still need to book some more music, though. We are as well getting a bit worried about how to fit everybody into the “Virgin chamber”, where the wedding will be held (70+ people are a lot!). Hopefully, we will figure something out. We also got a lot of people to confirm their hotel bookings.

For those of you who come to the wedding, don’t forget that we don’t really want any big presents. Instead, we will have a box where you may drop of a letter with a financial contribution to our honeymoon and your wishes. Don’t worry, if you are on a low budget, just some plain compliments will do too (it’s not about the money, we’re happy that you’re here!). Another thing to remember for the wedding is the date (of course)… In Sweden, it is a special date where we celebrate Midsummer. Midsummer is a very Swedish holiday where we dance around the Midsummer pole and sing songs. However, some youths use this day to get incredibly drunk and party all day (and night) long. The biggest hotspot for this happens to be Borgholm on Öland, where we have our wedding. So be warned, but don’t be too chocked when you see this, it’s not always like this in Sweden! At Äleklinta Gård and Djupvik Camping, where most of our guests are staying, it should be pretty quiet, though. As well, it looks like we might have a bus picking people up for the wedding from these places, so if you want to drink and don’t want to drive, this will be the option for you…

The Blog just started...

It's Easter Sunday. The year is 2008. Karin and Joseph's Blog has just bee created. This is their first post. And you are reading it...

Well, some of you may be used to read about us on the internet from our trip to India, New Zealand and Australia. This is somewhat simillar, But the menu is in English from the start. Maybe a bit easier this way...

So it's Easter and we are on Öland, visiting Karin's parents in Trollbo; and of course her sister. Last we were here was on Christmas, which was really nice. We'd just came back from our big trip. Karin's family picked us up from the airport in Stockholm. We were about 14 hours late, but that's a different story... Anyways, The than drove us back to Öland where we struggled with our jet-lag for about two weeks. Chrismas was really nice though and we even had time to organize our lifes a bit...

The big Question (with capital q) for us, of course, was to organize our lifes a bit. What to do now when we were back in Europe? So we aplied for a couple of jobs around the country and it turned out that a gym/aquatic centre in Lund really wanted Karin to work for them. And so did Karin. So we decided to move dow to Skåne. Joseph then figured out that it might be a good idea to take the short "teacher education" in Malmö which, together with his earlier studies, gives him the opportunity to work as an English and German teacher (though Joseph has to study German in Lund simltaniously).

Eventually Karin started her new job and Joseph commenced his studies. The only problem was that we didn't have a place to live jet. We stayed at Jenny's place (a good friend) whilest we were looking for a flat. Itook us a couple of weeks and we were really frustrated at times, but eventually, we found a really nice flat in Mälmö. Not only is it nice, but it i really close to the city, marketplace and high life... It's a second hand contract for a year; we'll see what happens after that...

For the past months we've been stressed up with our job and studies, respectivly. It's all good, though. Karin really loves her new job, thou sh has all hands full to do. The situation isn't much different for Joseph. And, of course, we have a wedding to plan too!

Which is what we've been doing whenever we've had the time to. Still, sometimes it's just too much! We did got some things done, though but had "saved" a lot for Easter. Which is now. And we are on Öland.

When we got here on Wednesday we started to organize and haven't stopped untill now (Sunday). It's incrediable how much we got done, too. But don't worry, we won't bother you with details at this point. The only thing I'm gonna say is this, though: we might actually be able to pull this off!

Other than the all the planning, we got to spend some time with Ingerd, Staffan and Lisa, which we really enjoyed. The food was really great too (don't forget, Ingegerd is a chef). The only thing which was a bit weird was the weather, because it was snowing! Yes, snow on Easter! I know that we are living in Sweden, which is far north, but snow on Easter is really strange even here. We didn't have any snow for Christmas, but for Easter... Better late than never, I guess...

So this is what we did on easter, combined with a little update on what we've been up to this year. There will be more soon, especially some info for our wedding guests... So feel free to check in and see what we're up to.
